The perception of the Malay community towards women who smoke remains a heated debate. Some people consider smoking as an indecent and inappropriate behavior for women, while others argue that everyone has the right to do what they desire, including smoking. This article aims to explore the perspectives of the Malay community towards women who smoke through a qualitative approach, conducting in-depth interviews with several respondents from various backgrounds. The research findings indicate that the majority of respondents perceive smoking as an impolite act that does not align with the prevailing social norms in the Malay society. However, there are also some respondents who believe that smoking is an individual's right and should not be questioned. Nonetheless, the Malay community's perception of women who smoke is still influenced by strong cultural and religious factors within it. Therefore, efforts should be made to enhance the understanding and awareness of the community regarding individual rights and the importance of respecting diversity in a multicultural society.
