This article discusses the importance of literacy and the efforts made through the School Literacy Movement (Gerakan Literasi Sekolah, GLS) to enhance the literacy of students in Indonesia. GLS aims to create schools as learning organizations that promote lifelong literacy through public engagement. The research utilized observation, interviews, and surveys to gather data on the implementation of GLS and its impact on student literacy. The research findings indicate that GLS contributes positively to improving literacy. The familiarization phase of GLS, such as morning recitation and visits to the school library, builds a culture of literacy among students. The development phase, including language competitions and the creation of student organization bulletin boards, enhances students' thinking skills and expression. The learning phase, through activities like reading storybooks and library visits, improves students' reading ability and comprehension. This research concludes that GLS is an effective approach to enhancing student literacy in Indonesia, enriching their knowledge and creativity, and shaping them into lifelong literate individuals.
